I think it looks clear to all, the Gospel reading, the difference between John the Baptist and Jesus, in their mode of bearing witness to the kingdom of God
John was a good preacher, a fair precursor of Christ, and I like to consider it as representative of those people who in past years and, unfortunately, still choose penance, asceticism and corporal punishment as a way to improve your relationship with God As Christians, we have not been very receptive to the Gospel message. We got what we came back more comfortable. This is one of many examples. Over the centuries, it was decided to create an intimate relationship with God, personal, from which it was thought depended on our being Christians. It is often felt that holiness was really a "detachment" (the rest of their holy means separate) from the world. The approach to holiness and to God the man was directly proportional to the posting.
Not all, fortunately, have followed this path or have had these beliefs. But the majority of it was drawn. And it is today.
Jesus, however, tried to make clear this aspect. Carry only the example set by the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus does not condemn the perpetrators, or rather, does not condemn them alone, but also and above all the priest and the Levite, ie those who have done nothing towards the victim found along the road. But mind you, they are not condemned for what they did but for what they have not done: there has been next to a brother in need. So we must be careful not to seek the easy path of holiness. What makes us feel so good, because we are with God and we do not mix with men. Our mission is, dare I say, "get away" from God and get our hands dirty, getting involved with the world, the play's reputation. And this is certainly not an easy task. After all ... we do not like to become a saint now!
